Why This App Was Created

Practical Support From Someone Who Understands

Living with chronic illness or mental health concerns can sometimes make it feel as though your body or mind has betrayed you. Even when you are taking your medications, attending appointments, and doing everything you can to manage your health, you may still wonder what else could help between visits—without requiring more energy than you have available.

I created the Faces of Health app because I believe we can learn to use the science of our brains and bodies to reduce physical stress, ease emotional pain, and build greater resilience. I combine my professional training as a clinical psychologist with my understanding of the mind-body-health connection and my lived experience as a chronically ill Black woman.

The app offers brief audio and video practices that can be used in just a few minutes, including:

  • Mindfulness and grounding meditations
  • Diaphragmatic breathing and other breathwork practices
  • EMDR bilateral tapping and EFT tapping
  • Chair-yoga and range-of-motion exercises
  • Self-brainspotting exercises
  • Breath prayers and faith-integrated practices

The Faces of Health app has a real person behind it—someone who understands the challenges of living with chronic illness and has learned to transform pain into purpose. Along with teaching practical skills, the app explains why they work so you can better understand your brain, your body, and the tools available to support your wellness.
